THE RISKS OF THE NIMBY SYNDROME

International Conference WHAT DO YOU REALLY KNOW ABOUT WASTE AND HEALTH: THE RISKS OF THE NIMBY SYNDROME

The Conference, organized by the Scientific Committee of CATANIA 2030 in collaboration with the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and the Italian Interdisciplinary Group on Waste and Health (CIRS), will be on a much-debated topic on which we are still witnessing distorted and often instrumental information: the “Waste and Health” topic. Internationally renowned experts and scientists will be invited to discuss and shed light on the real connections between health and waste management. Which is the scientifically measured impact on health of landifilling a ton of waste? And which is impact if we incinerate the same ton with energy recovery?. Is the fear of people opposing any new plant construction really justified? This conference is held in symbiosis and as a post-event of THESSALONIKI 2021 8th International Conference on Sustainable Solid Waste Management 23-26 June 2021, Thessaloniki, Greece http://thessaloniki2021.uest.gr
